Oh and as far as how much we focus on Christ's resurrection vs. his death, you really believe that there's only a minute amount of material published by Jehovah's Witnesses that focuses on his resurrection? You're either being dishonest with yourself, or disingenuous.

Is Jesus dying really more important than his resurrection?
by Band on the Run ini was reading about khs on wikipedia and i noticed a link for the memorial of jesus' death.

I love, I mean absolutely love how you people cherry pick one aspect of our faith and then neglect everything else related to it. So we only focus on Jesus death, never mind that we have a book entitled The Greatest Man Who Ever Lived. Last time I checked when the weekly Bible reading schedule comes up, we don't exactly skip the Gospels. The first question for this week's oral review is, What does it mean to have the mind of Christ? To be considered during this week's congregation bible study, the final paragraph is as follows.
We are imitating Jesus. The Bible calls him "the faithful and true witness." (Rev 3:14) Jesus himself said that he 'made God's name known' and kept 'bearing witness to the truth' about God. (John 17:26; 18:37) Christ's genuine followers must, therefore, bear Jehovah's name and make it known. This is what Jehovah's Witnesses are endeavoring to do.
The question for that paragraph above is, Who is the greatest Witness of Jehovah? So please, cut out all the we dont like Jesus malarkey. Thanks.

For the ones who believe in Bible - What does the scriptures here imply on subjection to religious leaders? - Hebrews 13:17-19, 22-25
by MissConfused indo we really need an organization and need to be in subjection to it as god always chose leaders (abhraham, moses, jesus, apostles)?
what are your thoughts?
how can you reason this out?.

There's a multitude of reasons why God would utilize an organization, and that's not to say that He necessarily needs an organized effort carried out by humans. However, for the same reason that we find organization within nature making it obvious that there was a creator, it's quite evident by the success and lack of chaos within Jehovah's Witnesses that the organization which they belong to is recieving God's blessing. Not to mention, unity, which no other religious organization posesses today.
Consider organization in ancient times. For example, the nation of Israel was organized by tribe, The Law, a priestly class, etc.. By adhering to Jehovah's direction and complying to the organization as He directed, the nation as a whole benefitted and they enjoyed prosperity and peace. See Numbers 2 and Deut 23:12, 13 for more details. The Christian Congregation in the 1st Century also recieved direction so as to be organized to accomplish their ministry. Titus 1:5 is particulary specific when it states that Paul assigned the letter's namesake to Crete in order to get things organized. Can you imagine a lack of organization in that first century? Paul would have been on one page, Peter on another, etc.. The great apostasy wouldn't have even come into fruition because nothing can come from chaos lol!!!
Today, it goes without saying that organization is especially needed for a few reasons. For one thing, how would the preaching effort have any success without someone to organize it? Hence on a local level, there are field service groups, headed by service overseers. They ensure that we're not entering the same neighborhoods too often so as not to disturb our neighbors. We use field service slips to ensure that literature isn't being wasted, as well as proving Circuit Overseers a glimpse of what's happening in the congregation so as to address it's needs appropriately. COs report to DOs, who report to the Branch, that way those taking the lead on a national level can keep their thumb on the pulse of the organization's efforts. 2 Cor 1:24; 1 Pet 5:2, 3
Organization is needed in order to remain unified in thought and spirit. Unlike the other so called Christians such as Catholics, Baptists, Mormons, Born-Agains, and any other random trend of the week, Jehovah's Witnesses are unified. You can go to any Kingdom Hall in any part of the world, and share the same beliefs due to our being organized. How can any Christian say that he/she is encouraging one another in harmony with Heb 10:23, 24 if they don't share the exact same beliefs as directed to by a central leadership under the direction of God? Impossible right? Exactly.-Psalm 133: 1, 3.
At the end of the day, the reason for organization can be summed up by 1 Cor 14:33 where it states that "God is not a god of disorder, but of peace." Nowhere is that more evident than amongst Jehovah's Witnesses.

tootired, I don't worship the true God with an expiration date in mind for obvious reasons.- (Matt 24:36) Besides, what's a generation, or even overlapping generations when one has the possibility of living for eterninity all the while learning about Jehovah? While it's true that this system of things is still functioning longer than we anticipated, everyday still brings us closer to it's impending collapse and the signs are all there to reassure us. Besides, encroaching upon 2014, we're still closer to the end than our brethren were in the late 1800s, the early 1900s, mid 1900, latter 1900s, the early 80's, etc.. We're getting there, even if it does appear to be delaying. It may not come until 1934 or later, but it will come.-2 Pet 3:8,9; Hab 2:3
As Winston Churchill said, "that the task which has been set us is not above our strength; that its pangs and toils are not beyond our endurance."

by Crazyguy inknow where in the bible will you find christian religions being condemned for teaching the trinity or hell fire doctrines, but you will find jesus condemning those that come as messiah's or christs (both mean anointed) and declaring 'the time is near'.
you will also find paul cursing anyone that preaches a gospel different then the apostles preached as well as cursing those that change or add to the bible.

Smiddy, I'll save us both the trouble over debating that, John 1:1 that is. Ray Franz didn't even agree with criticism of how the WT has printed that.
Fernando, ok.
Hamsterbait, I'll be straight with you. I am not a fan of how the NWT renders Hebrews 1:8, 9. However verse 9 when stating, and for emphasis it's the Father talking to the son, "Therefore God, your God has annointed you", and that's sufficient for me, that being the WT's intent on that verse was honorable. Comparing verse 8 in the NWT with other translations does give me the
Even their rational for rendering the text as they do leaves a bit to desire, the WT that is.

I've got a moment, so I'll respond to some of the comments on the first page.
UnstoppableRavens, I believe you're looking too far into our beliefs on faith by asserting that we believe more is needed to attain salvation. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you're alluding to works?- James 2:26. If so, Jehovahs Witnesses do not believe salvation is possible through works, rather works would be a natural byproduct of faith. James put it so eloquently by comparing the relationship between faith and works with a body lacking spirit. It's like your physician saying you need some exercise, otherwise you're going to deteriorate. You may say that you believe what that physician is telling you, however your actions prove otherwise. Likewise if you truly believe what the great physician Jehovah is telling you, your actions will testify on behalf of your faith. Paul's letter to the Galations contrasting the works of the flesh and spirit come to mind.
As far as Col 1:15-18, I compared the NWT with a King James version by Thomas Nelson, and I fail to see a difference between the two, that being with or without, "other." The "other" in verse 16 differentiates that who the verse was written about from that which his hand was responsible for creating.
Regarding Heb 11:13-16, the use of the word, "belonging", changes nothing when considering the context of those verses. Paul at that point wasn't talking about Sarah, or Abraham,, or Noah, nor Enoch. While it's true that he used their examples of faith as something for others to imitate, one cannot neglect the transition of who Paul was referring to starting in verse 14, as it noticeably is talking about anyone that chooses the path of a Christian. Verse 16 especially makes this clear when it states that, "now they are reaching out", this couldn't have referred to Sarah, Abraham, etc..
